Professional History:
My career as a healthcare professional started over 16 years ago as a student of nursing and a PCU/ICU nurse technician. Forgoing the nursing program, I sought a profession in manual medicine, practicing first as a professional massage therapist for seven years. In 2002, I graduated as a Certified Rolfer from The European Rolfing Association in Munich, Germany. In 2009, after acquiring years of experience and continuing education I completed my training in becoming a Certified Advanced Rolfer with The European Rolfing Association taught by Peter Schwind.
Throughout the past seven years I have dedicated a great deal of time to advancing my skills in areas of specialty: Visceral Manipulation and BioMechanics. Visceral Manipulation is based on the principle that all organs have an inherent motion; any restriction to an organ results in a misalignment in the skeletal-muscular body. The physiology of each organ is dependent on its available range of motion within the visceral cavity. BioMechanics on the other hand, allows one to identify and determine how to correct asymmetries in the body. As we experience large or small injuries and stressors in life, we seek to adapt the body by either exaggerating these irregularities or driving individual body parts out of pattern.
In addition to my studies above, I have been an assistant instructor in over twenty classes to Rolf Instructor Liz Gaggini, teaching BioMechanics to Structural Integrators internationally. Presently, I am undergoing a rigorous certification program in Visceral Manipulation through The Barral Institute. I am a member of the The Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, The International Association of Structural Integrators and The International Association of Healthcare Practitioners.
Professional Personality:
I am casual, light hearted, trusting of others, pragmatic, optimistic and straightforward. I invite people to come to my office with a sense of mystery and intrigue. In my practice, strength is defined by how adaptable and resilient one is physically, mentally and even spiritually. I also know my limitations as a professional and will refer out should I deem it necessary.
Other specialized forms of healing I like to recommend:
Manual Medicine: 'Cranial Osteopathy', Nerve Manipulation.
Personal Fitness & Movement Therapy: Rolf Movement, Nia, Gyrotonics, Stott Pilates, Feldenkrias, Alexander technique, Continuum, physio ball & other balancing exercises.
Dental: Roth Mechanics, Oralfacial Myology.
Psychological: Somatic Experiencing and working with the topics of 'family of origin', 'shame' and Carl Jung's work on 'shadow' are a must in personal development work as well as Buddhist philosophies.
